About this project

Helo, my name is Paul Schtolz.

Who am I?

I was born in Lithuania a long time ago, and have been living in Germany for a while now. Although I work in medicine, travel and history have become a great passion of mine. It all started with the idea of telling my family’s story.

The blog began as a way for me to share my family’s story, but after some thought-processes and research on World War II history in Europe I realized that this project could be much more than just personal interest.

As a child, I had always been fascinated by the stories of ordinary people during wartime. My family’s story is not unique in this sense but it still holds great meaning for me and that is what led to starting this project.

It is an opportunity not only explore what life was like at home during these difficult times; it also allows people from all around world have access to knowledge about how individuals lived through various events. It’s not just a story of survival, but also an account on how people has dealt with their grief and depression after the war.
